Elizabethton’s Covered Bridge Park could be up for major renovations in the near future thanks to students from Appalachian State University. These could include improvements to Elk Street Arch Bridge, a welcome center, spaces for visual and performing arts, an updated walking path, new and improved river access, a splash pad for children, as well as other things of that nature. The propositions will need to be first approved by both the Parks and Recreation Department, and then be brought before the City Council before any progress can be made. If progress on this project is to be made, the city of Elizabethton needs to know there is public interest. As of right now the best way to show support is to take the survey here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeXLbSuv0rPikrQTBksvHzcpy1NyIiD46r9l76CfDwuGIGDvQ/viewform?c=0&w=1. It asks about personal preferences regarding the potential upgrades, and while it does take a few minutes to complete, it is extremely helpful to those pushing for the improvements. Not only does it let them know that the people of Elizabethton want them to continue with the project, as well as which route they should take it.
